The "What's wrong with Kat document" (no laughing or snide comments at the back there!)
I have a specific form of Super Ventricular Tachycardia (SVT) called AV nodal re-entrant tachycardia (AVNRT).
Basically, when I have an attack my heart beats very fast, sometimes over 200 beats per minute. The electric signals that control my heart rate feedback down an accessory pathway & then back again so my heart is getting two signals & acting on them both. I am instantly aware of it & usually coherent enough to let people know.
Causes are: Stress, rise/fall in body temperature, stimulants (i.e caffeine), adrenaline rush among others.
Symptoms are: palpitations, dizziness, weakness in legs/down left side, possible chest pain, nausea, anxiety.
Sometimes I can stop the attack by bearing down or with the Valsalva technique but if they don't work it's a hospital trip. Treatment is call 999, explain I have SVT & that I'm tachycardic. The operator will usually ask you to take my pulse & all the usual questions! Just give them the info I give you at the time.
If needed, explain to them I have had radio frequency ablation on Nov 5th. They took me off my medication to see if the treatment was successful. I used to take 40mg Verapamil 5 times a day. For the record, I am usually taken into resuss & given adenosene to stop my heart & then they re-start it. Nowt to worry about tho.

GP is Dr Chisnell, Valyrie Road Surgery, Westcliff
Cardiologist is Dr A.A Khokhar, Southend General Hospital (my hospital ref is U530207, NHS number 432 217 5902)
Consultant at St Bart's is Mr R Schilling (my ref number is 6472597)
My secondary condition is AF (Atrial fibrillation). This means the atrium can also beat fast but it's quite different to the above & I'l be able to explain the difference to you should it ever happen. It has never caused me to visit hospital *touch wood*
I often get what is called Ectopic beats which are extra heart beats from various points in my heart. Causes include smoking (oops!), excess alcohol, sudden shock, stress, exertion, and when my head is below the level of my heart. They hurt a little & make me a bit giddy & breathless but don't cause harm unless I get too many!
Luckily, none of this is hereditary.
Drugs/Allergies
I cannot take any from of recreational drugs (neither have I any desire to!) I cannot have too much caffeine either as it can trigger an attack.
Allergies: certain dairy foods (yogurt, mayo, cottage cheese etc), spices (cumin, turmeric, paprika)
Think that's all you need, it's not as complicated or worrying as it sounds, trust me. Any questions, please ask them :)

How happy am I? I'm so excited. Yes, I'm a little nervous but even tho it's heart surgery it's quite a simple procedure. A letter came through from my Cardiologist this morning, asking me to make an appointment to discuss the surgery :)
So, when it's all done (& hopefully it'll be a success) who wants to rent a really fast car & take me for a proper run in it, eh?

Buy as many of the different formats as you can (each one counts as a chart entry), and/or download it from iTunes.
If possible, buy them TODAY, as the higher we are in the midweek chart, the better chance we get of knock-on publicity (t.v. radio etc)
